Adil Hussain’s latest movie is Pareeksha: The Final Test which was released on OTT Platform Zee5 in August 2020.
Adil Hussain basically belongs to Assam where he was born in 1963 in a muslim family and he is the youngest among seven children. Inclination towards acting started growing at a very early age in Adil Hussain and he started doing school plays. At the age of 18, young Adil left his home to study philosophy at B. Borooah College, Guwahati.
At college days, Adil Hussain actively participated in college acts and also performed as stand-up comedian. He was quite popular for doing mimicry of various Bollywood actors during his college times. During 1990-1993, Adil stayed in Delhi and studied at the coveted National School of Drama.
Later he went to Drama Studio London on a Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarship , for further studies to pursue his acting career.
When Adil returned from London to Assam in 1994, he joined mobile Hengul Theater where he acted for several plays in three years. Adil Hussain also got stage acting training under Khalid Tyabji (at Delhi), Swapan Bose (at Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry) and Dilip Shankar (at Delhi).
1999 was the year when Adil Hussain’s acting got appreciation and recognition as well for his play Othello: A Play in Black and White. His play received the Edinburgh Fringe First award. Adil Hussain shares his experience and trains other budding artists as visiting faculty at Society for Artists and Performers in Hampi, Royal Conservatory of Performing Arts, Hague and he is also a visiting faculty at his alma mater – National School of Drama.
Adil Hussain is Indian film industry’s one of the most versatile actors who has starred in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, Norwegian and French films.
Adil Hussain`s TV career started in 2002 when he performed his lead role in the detective television series Jasoos Vijay.
Adil Hussain’s Film Career has been a cauldron of creativity where he always kept challenging himself to suit the demands of the role. Adil started his film career in 2004 with bengali film Iti Srikanta alongwith Soha Ali Khan and later he worked in a few Assamese films as well. When we talk about Adil Hussain’s hindi films then 2009-2010 was the time when his small but effective roles got him much appreciation. Kaminey, Ishqiya (2010) and Agent Vinod (2012) are few names to mention here.
Adil’s different roles in four movies – The Reluctant Fundamentalist (as a Muslim Activist and Mujahidin), English Vinglish (as the protagonist Sridevi`s husband), Lessons in Forgetting (as renowned cyclone expert J.A. Krishnamoorthy) and Life of Pi (as Pi`s father), proved his versatility as an actor.
Adil Hussain also starred in an Indian crime web series Delhi Crime which was released on OTT Platform Netflix in 2019. In this web series Adil played a strong character of Delhi Police Commissioner.
